The Sycamore Music Boosters recently partnered with Custom Fundraising Solutions and held a unique and very successful Mattress Fundraiser this spring. Lisa Smith, Sycamore Music Boosters President comments, “We decided to try something different with our fundraising efforts, and are pleased with the success of this event! It has been a pleasure working with Chris with Custom Fundraising Solutions. We are thrilled to announce we raised over $5700 to support the music programs for all of the students Kindergarten through 12th grade, and we are very thankful to the wonderful support from our entire community.”

Thank you to everyone that supported this fundraiser!
At our May meeting, we recognized and thanked our Music Boosters Treasurer, Peggy Diemer, for her 6 years of service! She has been one of the hardest working, loyal, and trustworthy parent volunteers for music boosters over the past 6 years. She was extremely involved in all fundraising activities each year including the Craft Fair, A Note To Remember, and all smaller fundraisers such as the Feed My Starving Children” ticket sales, Portillo’s, Culver’s, Jamrah and other food fundraisers, Spirit Wear sales, and more! She was often one of the first to arrive and the last to leave at each event!
Peggy took the Treasurer position from manually balancing the check book and accounts to development of digitizing the accounting, developing more professional reports, and assuring that all tax laws are followed through yearly consultation with an accountant.
In addition to serving as Treasurer, Peggy has been involved as a volunteer as a Band Parent preparing meals and assisting with band events over the past 8 years.
On behalf of Lisa Smith, current Sycamore Music Boosters President; Ken Olson, past-President of the Music Boosters; past and current Music Boosters Officers; Sycamore School District Music Staff; everyone involved in the Music Boosters; and the Sycamore School District Music Programs – we all owe Peggy a great deal of gratitude for her faithful service! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
With great appreciation for her untiring dedication and hard work, Music Boosters President Lisa Smith presented Peggy a Certificate of Appreciation and restaurant gift card (above photo).
Bravo to Peggy Diemer!

Sycamore High School music student Kjelden Breidenbach was selected via audition to represent Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra at the 2017 Chicago Youth in Music Festival held in February at Orchestra Hall in Chicago.
Kjelden was honored to perform in the festival for a second time. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra website states, “The Chicago Youth in Music Festival is a celebration of young classical musicians from across greater Chicago. The musicians participated in coachings with CSO and Civic Orchestra professionals as well as preparatory rehearsals with Jay Friedman, Music Director of the Symphony of Oak Park & River Forest. The Festival culminated with a public open rehearsal of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 in F Minor, Op. 36 under the baton of Maestro Riccardo Muti.” Sycamore Music Boosters, Sycamore High School, and Community School District #427 are very pleased to have Kjelden represent the High School and district at this prestigious Music Festival.
Sycamore High School music student Jacob Jovanovich has been accepted into the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Junior Honors Choir. Jacob competed nationally, along with 4,000 other middle school and high school students, to be able to attend this professional choral convention hosted in Minneapolis. The ACDA National Convention brings together all of the best in choral conducting and choral music for performance, symposiums and training sessions to further the future of choral music and appreciation in the United States. Jacob is excited to be the first Bass representing Sycamore High School at this conference and everyone is very proud of his accomplishment and representation of Sycamore High School and Community School District #427. This opportunity to attend this convention was partially funded by the Sycamore Music Boosters.
